School Skills Groups January 2011

In January 2011 ABI NSW ran their first School Skills groups. The groups were run and designed by Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Provisionally registered psychologists and Special Educators. 

The three groups were very successful with all 15 participants getting the chance to develop their communication, social and academic skills as well as make new friends at the ABI centre in Alexandria. Parents were able to get feedback from the ABI team as well as a report card for their child at the end of the four sessions.

A range of different activities were designed to improve story comprehension, gross motor skills, following instructions from the teacher as well as build on social skills with peers. At the end of the sessions ABI was happy to see everyone had had a wonderful time and had greatly benefited from the experience including the ABI team!

Due to the success of the groups ABI is looking to run the School Skills groups again in 2011 / 2012. If you are interested in having your child participate next time or would like some more information please contact the office.

MARCH 10TH 2010, 7:30PM- 9:00PM - ABI NSW ASD PROFESSIONAL'S EVENING

ABI NSW is launching its first ASD Professionals Evening. This will be a great opportunity to inform other professionals about the services you have available for children with ASD and to also network and socialise with other professionals in the field. The details are as follows:

Date: Wednesday 10th March 2010

Time: 7:30pm -9pm

Venue: Novotel Rockford Darling Harbour, 17 Little Pier Street, Darling Harbour NSW 2000

AUGUST 9TH 2009 - SPONSOR FIFI IN THIS YEARS CITY TO SURF!

The FIFI foundation was formed in late 2006 by 10 women from the Sydney finance industry who had the common goal of wanting to put something back into the local community.

FIFI's next target charity is Autism, and they have selected Autism Behavioural Intervention NSW (ABI NSW) as one which fits their mandate.

This year, FIFI has decided it is more appropriate to raise money through their own blood, sweat and tears, so they are entering a team in the City2Surf!! they are looking for sponsors and/or for additional team members.
