Volunteers

ABI is always looking for skilled individuals to assist with a variety of tasks in our Sydney office.  The office is located just outside Sydney in Epping, NSW and is open between Monday through Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.

Examples of the types of tasks volunteers help with include, but are not limited to:

  • Phone reception
  • General administrative tasks
  • Special events planning
  • Assisting with our news/research archives
  • Responding to informational inquiries from the general public

If you like working in a close knit team and are looking for a different kind of challenge and want to make a contribution to the lives of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, then this is the opportunity that you have been looking for!

Autism Behavioural Intervention (ABI) is seeking an energetic and passionate person to undertake the challenging role of Psychologist / Special Educator/ Behavioural Therapist.  The successful applicant would be working with families in their homes in North West, South West and Inner City Sydney.  

Training in Applied Behavioural Analysis and the ABI Philosophy will be provided for the first 4 months of position with on going support and supervision from ABI’s Seniour Consultants.

The duties of this position include (but are not limited to):

  • Applying discipline specific based on the most current research in Autism Spectrum Disorders.
  • Professional knowledge, experience, skills and techniques to assist families of children with autism.
  • Conducting direct and indirect behavioural and communication assessments with families.
  • Design and implement programs for children with autism in the areas of Positive Behaviour Support, Communication, Play, Social, Independent Living and Early Academic Skills.
  • Offer presentations and on-going training to parents and professionals

Work related requirements:

The successful occupant of this position will have to have meet one of the following professional requirements: 

  • A 4-year Degree in Psychology 
  • Or A Masters in Special Education
  • Or A Masters in Speech Pathology
  • And/or 4 or more years experience in working with children with autism using the principles of Applied Behavioural Analysis
  • Applicants must have access to their own car.
